Consultation has concluded
We’re seeking expressions of interest (EOIs) for the long-term occupation of the land at 1 – 23 Maidstone Terrace and 23 Railway Avenue, a rectangular block of land bordering Maidstone Park.
Maidstone Park, is an area made up of several unique features in one large park complex at the centre of Upper Hutt and is home to the Maidstone Community Sports Hub, Maidstone Max adventure playground, a downhill mountain bike track, bush trails, a skate park, sports fields, picnic spaces, and room to play.
Do you have an idea that’s a strategic and community fit? We’re looking to maximise recreational benefits and opportunities for the wider Upper Hutt community and are inviting proposals from organisations which could develop and occupy this land. The area of land available is approximately 11.6 hectares and is held under Council ownership. When Council acquired the land, it was with the intention that it could provide recreational and community benefits.
We welcome proposals which include commercial recreational ventures and/or community-based clubs and sporting organisations.
Applications close 12.00 pm, 10 October 2023
Land information
The land is not subject to the Reserves Act 1977. Council will need to consult with the community on any lease or other disposal of the land in accordance with section 138 of the Local Government Act 2002. This land is currently zoned General Residential in the Upper Hutt District Plan. Some proposed uses may require a resource consent and EOIs should address this in their response. Council has an open mind about the future use of the land but is particularly interested in future uses that expand the recreational offerings in this part of Upper Hutt.
